Dr Irina Berkun  LRCPSI MB BCh BAO (NUI) MICGP DCP DCH FRCert

Dr Irina was born in Ukraine and grew up between Siberia and Ukraine.  She came to Ireland to study medicine and graduated from RCSI in 2003.  After interning in Beaumont Hospital in Dublin, Dr Berkun completed General Practice training on the RCSI & HSE Dublin North East Vocational GP training scheme, undertaking posts in Dublin hospitals in emergency medicine, paediatrics, medicine for the elderly, general medicine, psychiatry and general practice.

 

Dr Berkun has been working in Clondalkin since 2008.  Her special interests include women's health, maternity care, chronic disease management (Diabetic Care in particular), mental health and children's health.

 

Dr Berkun is involved in clinical teaching of medical students from both RCSI and UL-GEMS and is a GP trainer for the Dublin North GP training scheme.  She enjoys taking part in continuous medical education and is an active member of her local ICGP faculty.

Outside of work, Dr Irina loves spending time with her husband and her daugher.  Her 2 year old dog Belle makes sure Dr Irina does her daily walks.

Dr Kevin O'Brien  MB BCh BAO BA DCH MRCPI MICGP LMCC CCFP

Dr O'Brien, originally from Cork City, graduated from Trinity College Dublin in 2006 and spent a number of years working in hospital medicine in both Ireland and New Zealand before completing his GP training in Galway in 2015. Following a year working as a GP on the remote island of St Helena in the South Atlantic Ocean and then three years in Toronto, he is glad to be back on home soil and working in Clondalkin Village. 

Dr O'Brien has extensive experience in hospital medicine including paediatrics, psychiatry, addiction medicine, palliative care and emergency medicine.  He has a particular interest in men's health, joint injections, dermatology and paediatrics.  He is a GP trainer for the RCSI GP Training Scheme.

When not at work, he is often to be found trying to keep up with his three young daughters, sea swimming whenever he gets a chance or drinking strong coffee.

Dr Romaine King MB Bch BAO, BMedSci, MRCPI, MICGP, DME,
DRCOG, Larc Cert

Dr King joined Clondalkin Family Practice in May 2024.  Dr. King is from Dublin and did her undergraduate degree at UCD, qualifying in 2007. She spent several years gaining hospital experience before pursuing General Practice in UCD on the Dublin Mid Leinster training scheme where she completed her specialist training in 2015.

 

Dr. King has developed a number of areas of special interest, particularly in women's health. She provides comprehensive contraceptive expertise and is able to offer full long acting contraceptive options including coils and is a LARC tutor. She has substantial experience of the menopause and many other gynaecological issues. She also has particular interests in medicine for the elderly, travel health, pregnancy and paediatrics. 

 

Dr. King has taught undergraduate medical students in UCD since 2016. She is also an active member of the ICGP and local ICGP faculty. When not at work, Dr. King enjoys running after her 3 children and running races with her athletics club, Dundrum South Dublin. She also enjoys painting and spending quality time with her family and friends.

Dr Catherine McGowan -
GP Registrar

After being a valuable member of our team for the last year, Dr McGowan will finish up with us in July 2025 to move on to the final year of her GP training. She provided an excellent level of care to patients at Clondalkin Family Practice since July 2024 and we wish her all the best in her future career.

Dr Edmond Power -
GP Registrar
MB BCh BAO MRCPI Paediatrics B. Ed

Dr Power joined our clinic in July 2025 as part of his General Practice specialist training and will be with us for the coming year.  Originally from Tipperary, Dr Power began his professional journey as a primary school teacher before following his passion for medicine. 

After graduating from UCD in 2021, Dr Power gained valuable experience in general medicine in University Hospital Limerick before specialising in paediatrics and completing his paediatric membership examinations in 2024. Since commencing GP training, he has enhanced his skills in a range of specialities including Respiratory Medicine, Geriatrics and Emergency Medicine, most recently working in Obstetrics and Gynaecology in the Rotunda Hospital.

In his spare time, Dr Power can be found recovering from various knee injuries he has sustained though hurling and jiu jitsu.  He also enjoys spending time with his family and friends and running to coffee shops.

Dr Niall O'Gorman -
GP Registrar

Dr O'Gorman joined our team in July 2025 as part of his specialist training in General Practice and will be with us until July 2026.

After graduating from medicine in the National University of Ireland, Galway in 2018, he completed his intern year in University College Hospital Galway.  Following this, he worked in a number of medical positions in Ireland and Australia before completing his medical memberships in General Medicine in 2024.

Since commencing GP training, he has completed posts in a number of specialities such as emergency medicine, geriatrics, paediatrics, obstetrics and gynaecology and psychiatry.

When not at work Dr O'Gorman keeps busy with running and playing golf when the weather permits.

Lisa Adderley - Practice Nurse

Lisa graduated from Trinity College Dublin in 2017 and is dual qualified in both adult and paediatric nursing.  After working in Tallaght University Hospital and Crumlin Children's Hospital, she commenced work in General Practice, initially with Orchard Medical Group and then with Clondalkin Family Practice.  She is actively involved in continuous professional development and is currently undertaking a specialised course in Care of the Older Person.  Lisa manages all of our vaccinations, our chronic disease programme and cervical smear tests as well as general nursing duties. 

In her spare time, Lisa plays Gaelic football with her local team, spends time with family and goes on long walks with her two dogs, Flynn and Lúidín.

Tess Farrelly - Practice Nurse

Tess graduated from UCD in 2013 with first class honours and started her nursing career in a specialist role in a Dublin paediatric hospital.  In 2021, she made the move to general practice nursing and previously worked alongside us in Orchard Medical Group.

Recently, she has completed her training to be a nurse prescriber and is developing her role as the practice lead for contraception prescribing.  

Outside of work, she is generally kept busy with her two children, gardening and her flair for decorating!

Ann Forder - Practice Manager

Following ten years working in the banking sector in London, Ann returned to Dublin and begun working in medical administration.  She joined KDOC in 2001, became office manager a few years later and was part of the set-up team for TLC-DOC out-of-hours service.  

After 21 years working in the out-of-hours service, Ann joined Dr Berkun and Dr O'Brien in 2022 as practice manager, working hard to get the practice off the ground.

Outside of work, Ann spends her time with her husband, children and grandchildren and enjoys walks and watching dramas.

Nicola Hanley- Clinical Manager

Many of our patients will know Nicola from her 11 years working in Orchard Medical Group from 2009 - 2020.  Following a couple of years working in Glenfield Family Practice in Rowlagh, she joined our team to help establish Clondalkin Family Practice, where her experience is invaluable.  She also works in the out of hours service - TLC-DOC and is engaged in additional training in clinical skills to assist with practice investigations.  She now co-ordinates our large Chronic Disease Programme, ensuring that patients are recalled for bloods and review when they are due.

Nicola is an avid cyclist and runner, is always active and has two lovely dogs and a cat, Cleo.

Alla Baturova - Bilingual Administrator

Alla joined our team in July 2023 having previously worked in education and in the commercial sector.  She is a native Russian speaker and now co-ordinates our large Russian-speaking patient population in addition to her secretarial role.  Alla works in the clinic five days a week so that we always have a Russian speaking staff member on site.

Margaret Lawlor (Meg) - Phlebotomist

Meg has been taking bloods since well before Dr Berkun or Dr O'Brien entered medical school.  If she can't find a vein and take your bloods, nobody can!  We frequently hear patients who have previously been told they have "difficult veins" sing her praises on their way out after she has taken their bloods with ease!

Meron Teklehaimanot -
Clinical Assistant

Meron is originally from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia where she previously worked in anaesthetics before moving to Ireland in 2023.  After initially working in Galway, she moved to Dublin and joined Clondalkin Family Practice in May 2025.

Since then, she has put her clinical skills to good use in helping to run our Chronic Disease Programme, performing ECGs and 24 hour blood pressure monitors, training in phlebotomy and assisting with reception.
